About the event

As momentum builds across public schools to radically change reading instruction, teachers must adopt a “science of reading” approach to early literacy.   Studies have shown that explicit, systematic instruction in phonics, along with other foundations like a sustained approach to building students’ vocabulary and content knowledge, is the most effective way to teach children how to read words.  Learn from science of reaching experts and gain critical insights into:

 - The key components of the “science of reading” approach to reading instruction

- How to apply this approach in classrooms

- What schools and teachers need to do to make the shift to this way of teaching

A transcript will be available for download from the resource list within five business days after the event.

For all webinars broadcast by Education Week after August 1, 2019, Certificates of Completion are available to all registered live attendees who attend 53 minutes or more of any webinar. Educators can download a PDF certificate verifying 1 hour of Professional Development credit.
